Thali 2 - Where a curry memory lingers...
Later, my husband introduced me to the ridge gourd curry which his mother used to make during his childhood. And in an attempt to make this childhood favorite dish of his, I tried it for the first time in the last year. Was he impressed? Defitely yes, the proof being in his heartfelt statement - it is exactly how my mother used to make it!
Since then, I started buying ridgegourd on a weekly basis to make the ridgegourd curry, for lunch, especially on Sundays!
Known as Beerakaya koora in Telugu, this curry pairs well with warm rice. The basic minimum ingredients are used to make this endearing curry. I am sharing the recipe for this dish, which I have written down in my journal.

- Tomato chutney
- Mini punugulu aka vadas
- Cooled kodo millet
- Fried papad
- Sesame seeds spice mix/podi and
- A slice of mango...
