Thali 1 - An endearing Sunday meal
Welcome to my first blog post of the year 2026! Two years back I started making, savoring and posting my sattvic vegetarian meals.
And named, it, 365Indiavegthalis. I have been posting these varied, nutritious and fun filled meals, on my Instagram account under the hashtag 365Indianvegthalis.
Thali, in Hindi language means a meal platter filled with various dishes savored for lunch or dinner. India being the country with a huge culinary landscape, there are infinite number of combination of dishes which can be, each day of the year.
Thus, was born the idea of making one unique thali per day - for 365 days of the year!!
For me, my meals are sacred - a way to be thankful to God and the ones who have nourished me and continue to support me in varied ways...
In today's thali, the dishes are:
- Tomato Dal with steamed rice and papad, crispy fried wafers
- Ridgegourd curry
- Spicy sesame seeds powder known as Nuvvula podi in Telugu. I have posted a recipe below for this spice mix, which has been published in my book:

- Vadas with homemade tomato chutney made by my loving sister, Akka and
- Salad of tomatoes and cucumber
When I eat, I eat. When I sleep, I sleep.
